ALPHABOAT began in July 2018 as a joint venture between SC Digital Media Inc. (a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation), entertainment company Toho Co., LTD, and U.S.-based Fullscreen, Inc. The company was established to create and produce social entertainment content specifically for digital-native generations. Daizo Nishitani served as the president of ALPHABOAT LLC.

The firm's business model focused on providing end-to-end support for brands, encompassing content creation, optimization, and distribution across social media platforms. It specialized in producing video, static images, and text content tailored for social channels, while also recruiting and fostering video creators to support corporate branding and product recognition goals. One of its specialized services included "BAKUZO," a program designed to improve the performance of corporate YouTube channels by optimizing them for the platform's algorithm.

On April 1, 2023, ALPHABOAT LLC was absorbed into its parent company, SC Digital Media, through a merger. Following the merger, the ALPHABOAT name was retained as a brand, operating as the "Brand Communication Business Unit" within SC Digital Media. This move was intended to integrate ALPHABOAT's expertise in customer experience (CX) with SC Digital Media's knowledge in marketing-focused digital transformation (DX). On October 1, 2023, the parent company rebranded from SC Digital Media to SC Digital Co., Ltd.
