Almoosa Healthcare Group is a provider of integrated healthcare services in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province. The company's history began in 1994 when its founder, Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Mousa, envisioned a need for higher quality healthcare in the Al-Ahsa region. This led to the establishment of the first private hospital in Al-Ahsa in 1996, initially named Almoosa General Hospital, with a capacity of 30 beds.
Over the years, the group has undergone significant expansion. By 2000, the main hospital's capacity grew to 100 beds. A major milestone occurred in 2014 when the company rebranded to Al Moosa Specialist Hospital and opened its South Tower, increasing bed capacity to 240. Further expansion continued with the opening of the North Tower in 2021, bringing the capacity to 430 beds, and the inauguration of the Al Moosa Rehabilitation Hospital in 2023. As of early 2024, the group commanded a total capacity of 730 beds across its facilities, serving nearly one million clients annually, including individuals and the private and government sectors.
The group's business model is centered on providing a comprehensive continuum of care. This includes primary and specialized care, acute care, active rehabilitation, long-term care, and home healthcare services. Ancillary services such as a modern pharmacy network and telemedicine supplement its core offerings. The flagship Almoosa Specialist Hospital is recognized for several centers of excellence, including advanced centers for bone and joint, cancer, neuroscience, and cardiac care. The group operates as a teaching hospital, accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties with numerous residency and fellowship programs.
Led by Chairman Abdulaziz Almoosa and Group CEO Malek Almoosa, the company has outlined a clear growth strategy. In late 2024, Almoosa Health announced its intention to proceed with an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Saudi Exchange to fund its expansion. The strategy includes adding approximately 700 beds by 2028 by developing two new specialist hospitals in Al Hofuf and Al Khobar, and establishing five new primary care centers in the Eastern Province. This expansion aims to nearly double the group's capacity to 1,430 beds, addressing a significant projected bed gap in the region.
