AllBusiness.com is an online resource providing articles, tools, and expert advice for small businesses and entrepreneurs. The platform covers topics such as starting a business, sales and marketing, finance and fundraising, technology, legal matters, and human resources. It operates on an advertising-supported model, offering its content for free to users.
The company was co-founded in 1999 by lawyer Richard Harroch, Keith Belling, and Jerry Engel. In March 2000, during the dot-com boom, AllBusiness was acquired by NBCi, the internet division of NBC, for $225 million. Following the burst of the dot-com bubble, co-founder Richard Harroch bought back the core assets in April 2002. The company secured a Series B funding round in July 2004 and a $12.4 million Series C round in February 2006. In December 2007, Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) acquired AllBusiness.com for $55 million, incorporating it into its D&B Digital group. After a period of uncertainty, including layoffs and a potential sale in 2012, the domain was sold and has continued to operate, now for over 25 years.
The platform serves as a resource for entrepreneurs seeking practical guidance on starting, growing, and managing their ventures. It features a wide array of content including articles, how-to guides, legal forms, and a business directory. The site leverages a network of expert authors and contributors and has begun using artificial intelligence to support content creation and research, with human editorial oversight.
