Founded in 2013 by Nithiya Ananthakrishnan and Abby Valiaparambathu Abraham, Algorics established itself as a specialized data sciences partner for the life sciences industry. Ananthakrishnan, who began his career as a programmer for a large clinical research organization, launched Algorics with a focus on leveraging data analytics to enhance the efficiency of clinical research. The company initially developed "Acuity," a cloud-based data analytics product for real-time clinical trial analytics, which was later acquired by OmniComm. This event marked a pivot towards becoming a specialist in broader data sciences and solutions.
Prior to its acquisition, Algorics operated by providing biostatistics, statistical programming, clinical data management, and data standardization services. The company served a global client base of biopharmaceutical firms, medical device companies, and clinical research organizations (CROs). Its business model included flexible engagement options such as Functional Service Provision (FSP), project-based services, and permanent placements to meet varying client needs. The firm developed two key technology platforms: 'Clarity,' for clinical intelligence and study performance management, and 'MetaVate,' a metadata transformation engine designed to standardize data for regulatory submissions, such as meeting CDISC standards. Through these services and technologies, Algorics aimed to accelerate clinical development by making data handling and analysis more efficient.
In a significant milestone, Precision for Medicine acquired Algorics in March 2024. This acquisition was a strategic move for Precision for Medicine to enhance its clinical technologies, expand its biometrics capabilities, and increase its operational footprint in the Asia-Pacific region. Following the acquisition, Algorics' team and technologies were integrated into Precision for Medicine's operations. Nithiya Ananthakrishnan transitioned to the role of Senior Vice President of Biometrics at Precision for Medicine, continuing to leverage his expertise in the field.
