Aitoenergia Oy, founded in 2020, is a renewable energy service company specializing in geothermal heat pump systems. On August 18, 2025, it was announced that Geonova Oy is acquiring Aitoenergia, with Aitoenergia's CEO, Tuomas Humalajoki, becoming the new CEO of Geonova. The merger is expected to be finalized by the end of 2025, combining the two companies to form an expert group of about 40 people.

The company operates on an "Energy-as-a-Service" (EaaS) business model, targeting clients such as housing companies, property investors, and developers. Aitoenergia finances and manages the entire geothermal energy project lifecycle, including planning, implementation, operation, and maintenance. Clients do not face an initial investment but instead pay a predictable service fee based on energy consumption, which covers all aspects of the service, including system upgrades and electricity required to run the pumps. This model provides a risk-free, cost-effective transition to carbon-neutral heating and cooling solutions.

Aitoenergia's core service is a comprehensive geothermal heat solution that handles everything from design and installation to operation and maintenance. The company utilizes smart technology to optimize its systems based on weather forecasts, heating demand, and electricity spot prices, enhancing energy efficiency. Their "Aitovalvomo" remote monitoring center continuously tracks system performance to proactively address issues. This approach can reduce a property's heating-related carbon dioxide emissions by up to 100% compared to traditional district heating. Before the acquisition, Aitoenergia served over 60 client properties.
