The story of Airswift is one of parallel paths converging to create a powerhouse in technical workforce solutions. It begins with two separate companies: Air Energi and Swift Worldwide Resources. Ian Langley founded what would become Air Energi in the UK, initially as Marchfield Engineering in 1979. Around the same time, in 1981, Pat Swift established Swift Worldwide Resources, driven by the need for a reliable payroll company for his own employees in the North Sea. The two companies grew independently for decades, at times competing and at other times collaborating. A pivotal moment came in 2016 when, backed by private equity firms Wellspring Capital Management and LGV Capital, Air Energi and Swift Worldwide Resources merged to form Airswift. This strategic merger of equals created a global leader in workforce solutions for the energy, process, and infrastructure sectors. But the evolution didn't stop there. In 2021, Airswift executed another significant merger, this time with a former competitor, Competentia. This move further solidified its market position, expanding its reach into the mining and technology sectors. The private equity backers of both companies, Wellspring Capital and Reiten & Co., retained their stakes, signaling continued confidence and a strategy for growth. Today, Airswift operates globally, a testament to the vision of its founders and the strategic decisions that shaped its journey.
