Airpost

Airpost emerged in 2013 as a security-focused startup, founded by Navid Nathoo and Alam Karim. Nathoo, serving as CEO, brought experience as a former Management Consultant for the Aga Khan Foundation, while Karim, the CTO, had previously been the CTO at ClearSP. Their collective background informed the company's direction towards enterprise security.

The company developed a platform offering cloud access security broker (CASB) solutions. Its primary service was a cloud security dashboard that provided businesses with visibility and activity monitoring across the various consumer cloud and web applications used by their employees. This enabled IT departments to discover and manage 'shadow IT'—unofficial application usage within the organization. The core function was to help companies enforce security, awareness, and usage policies to prevent compliance violations and data leakage, without hindering employee productivity.

Operating in the burgeoning cloud security market, Airpost targeted enterprise clients grappling with the security implications of the increasing adoption of cloud services. The business model centered on providing tools for IT managers to securely manage content collaboration and data access across multiple cloud storage platforms. On February 20, 2015, just two years after its inception, Airpost was acquired by Box, a major player in content collaboration for enterprises. The acquisition was a strategic move for Box to integrate Airpost's security features, enhancing its own platform's capabilities in detecting and managing cloud application usage.
