Agricash is an Egyptian agri-fintech startup founded in 2024 by Dr. Diaa Youssef and Dr. Mostafa El-Sehli to address the financing gap for small and medium-scale farmers in Egypt. The company operates a digital platform that provides a suite of services aimed at modernizing the agricultural sector.
The core offering is a Sharia-compliant "Buy Now, Pay Later" (BNPL) model, branded as "Plant Now Pay Later". This service allows farmers to purchase agricultural inputs and livestock supplies with up to 12 months of interest-free credit and credit ceilings reaching EGP 3 million. Beyond financing, the platform integrates several value-added services, including AI-powered agronomic insights, zero-cost crop insurance, and a digital marketplace connecting farmers with suppliers and buyers. As of mid-2025, Agricash had onboarded over 1,500 active farmers, partnered with 60 certified suppliers, and listed more than 750 products.
The company's business model tackles the exclusion of many farmers from the formal financial system due to complex procedures and a lack of Sharia-compliant products. Agricash secured an undisclosed seed funding round in 2025 led by Alex Angels to scale operations across Egypt, expand into regional markets, and enhance its AI-driven infrastructure. The startup aims to reach a business volume of EGP 500 million by the end of 2025 and plans to introduce livestock financing in 2026.
