Afterbuy, a product of ViA-Online GmbH based in Krefeld, Germany, provides a comprehensive, cloud-based, all-in-one solution for e-commerce process automation. The company's journey began in 1998 with the development and sale of the ViA-Shop, a shop system for small and medium-sized merchants. This early focus on e-commerce merchants facilitated the 2002 launch of "Afterbay," an eBay sales processing tool, which was later renamed Afterbuy and integrated with the ViA-Shop. The firm was founded by Alfons Denzler and Markus Walber.

In 2016, the company was sold by eBay to Nexec Holding GmbH, a holding company of former ViA-Online CEO Valentin Schütt, who had originally developed the VIA-eBay software in 2012.
