Accusonus, founded in 2013, specialized in developing audio repair and music creation software. The company was started in Patras, Greece, by Alex Tsilfidis and Elias Kokkinis, who shared a passion for music technology and sound. Tsilfidis was an electronic musician composing for theatre and film, while Kokkinis was a drummer and sound engineer. Their shared background extended into academia, as both pursued PhDs in Audio Signal Processing after earning their Computer Engineering diplomas. They were later joined by Michael Tzannes, a seasoned tech entrepreneur and former CEO of Aware, Inc., who became a co-founder and angel investor, leading to the company's incorporation in the United States.

The firm's mission was to make advanced audio editing accessible to a broad audience, from amateur content creators to professional audio engineers. Accusonus operated on a product sales model, offering perpetual licenses for its software tools, with plans for a subscription service mentioned in 2019. Its clientele included podcasters, video creators, musicians, and sound engineers from over 100 countries. The company developed a portfolio of products built on patented machine learning and artificial intelligence technology. Key offerings included the ERA (Enhancement and Repair of Audio) Bundle, a suite of single-knob plugins designed for quick audio cleanup tasks like noise, reverb, and plosive removal. Another notable product was Regroover, a virtual instrument that used AI to deconstruct audio loops into their constituent parts, opening up new workflows for beat making and remixing. Its tools were used by engineers working with prominent artists like Bob Dylan and in film and television studios.

A significant milestone in the company's history was its acquisition by Meta (formerly Facebook) in February 2022 for an estimated €70 to €100 million. This event marked an acqui-hire, with Meta reportedly planning to integrate Accusonus's team and technology to bolster its own research and development efforts for the metaverse. Prior to the acquisition, Accusonus had successfully raised approximately $3.95 million in funding over several rounds from investors including Venture Friends, Big Pi, and IQbility. Following the acquisition, Accusonus ceased selling its products and shut down its website, making its software abandonware.
