Aasaanjobs Private Limited operated as an online recruitment marketplace in India, specifically targeting the entry-level, blue-collar, and grey-collar job segments. The company was founded in November 2014 by a team of IIT Bombay alumni including Gaurav Toshniwal, Dinesh Goel, and Kunal Jadhav, who identified a significant opportunity in India's large and unregulated recruitment market. Goel, who served as CEO, had prior experience at Deutsche Bank, and the founding team's vision was to bridge the gap between employer requirements and candidate skill sets.
The firm's business model centered on an end-to-end recruitment platform that connected employers, recruitment consultants, and job seekers. It utilized a two-way matchmaking algorithm to filter its database, presenting employers with candidates whose profiles and expectations aligned with the job requirements. Aasaanjobs provided services for various sectors, including logistics, sales, marketing, and human resources. To facilitate the hiring process, the company developed separate mobile applications for job seekers, employers, and partner agencies. The platform's features included candidate assessments, 'selfie' video interviews, and chat functionalities to accelerate recruitment. Recruiters could select from various plans based on their needs and access a verified database, with the company also offering temporary staffing services for bulk hiring.
The company successfully raised capital to fuel its growth, securing a $1.5 million seed round in January 2015 and a subsequent $5 million Series A round in November 2015. In May 2017, Aasaanjobs acquired Noida-based mHire to expand its presence in North India. A significant milestone occurred in January 2019 when the online classifieds marketplace OLX Group acquired Aasaanjobs for an undisclosed sum, aiming to strengthen its position in the blue-collar job market. Following the acquisition, OLX Group rebranded Aasaanjobs to Waah Jobs in February 2021 to better align with the value proposition of providing trusted jobs from verified employers.
