50 Partners is a Parisian venture capital firm and startup accelerator established in 2012 by Jérôme Masurel, alongside co-founders Christophe Berly, Laurent Letourmy, and Rolland Mor. Masurel's background includes experience with incubators in London during the dot-com era and later with investment funds, which shaped his vision for a more founder-centric and long-term support model. The firm was designed to provide entrepreneurs with a stable and enduring support system.
The core of 50 Partners' model is its collective of seasoned entrepreneurs from successful French companies like BlaBlaCar, Leboncoin, and Dataiku, who serve as mentors. This network provides hands-on, lifelong guidance to a select group of early-stage startups. Instead of the accelerator taking equity directly, the shares are allocated to the mentors who actively engage with the startups, creating a strong alignment of interests. The firm operates across four primary verticals: Digital, Impact, HealthTech, and Web3, with a dedicated group of 50 partners for each sector. Annually, each vertical selects 6 to 8 startups from a pool of 1,500 to 2,000 potential candidates, resulting in about 25 new companies joining the program each year.
Beyond mentorship, 50 Partners facilitates financing for 100% of its supported companies through its extensive ecosystem of investors, corporate partners, and C-level experts. The firm also manages its own investment funds, such as 50 Partners Capital, which co-invests in the most promising startups within its portfolio. These funds, managing approximately €100 million in assets, allow the entrepreneur-partners and other investors to participate financially across the portfolio. The firm focuses primarily on pre-seed and seed stage investments in the French market but also considers opportunities across Europe. Notable portfolio companies that have achieved successful exits include ProcessOut (acquired by Checkout.com) and SimpliField.
