1Box Group is an investment, development, and operations platform focused on the pan-European self-storage market. Founded in 2019, the company began its operations in the Netherlands and is headquartered in Bergen op Zoom. It is backed by Volta Global, a U.S.-based global real estate investment firm, which provides a permanent capital base for long-term strategic growth.
The company's business model centers on acquiring, developing, and operating self-storage businesses across Europe, with a focus on consolidating the fragmented market. 1Box Group targets freehold assets or long-term leaseholds, preferably over 2,000 square meters, in major metropolitan areas in countries like the Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, and Belgium. Its growth strategy involves both direct acquisitions of existing facilities and partnerships with local operators. A notable milestone was the acquisition of Kubox in 2022, which significantly expanded its portfolio in the Netherlands and added home delivery services.
By September 2022, the group owned and operated over 30 facilities, totaling more than 800,000 square feet across the Netherlands, France, and Italy. The portfolio has since grown to include 29 assets in the Netherlands and three in France, with further developments underway. The company's expansion is supported by significant financing, including a €58 million loan in 2023, which was upsized to €110 million in 2025, to fund acquisitions, capital expenditures, and technological enhancements to improve profitability.
The leadership includes Jeff Evans, President of both Volta Global and 1Box Group, and Marko Dimitrijevic, Chairman of Volta Global. In the Netherlands, the operations are led by managing directors Jasper Bos and Jan Bikker, who was an experienced self-storage operator before partnering with the group.
